I was fiddling around on Twitter and discovered some awesome blog posts by few different people. One of them is a game of “Get To Know Me” where you post these questions, answer them and then I guess your readers post the links to their versions? I’m not sure how the “tag” part of this works out but I got this from Junebug Makeup.
1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
It is naturally straight, although as I’ve aged, it has developed some wave to it. I got a perm once, horrible look for me. I curl it from time to time but that’s all it will ever be – an occasional thing.
2. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
Kind of a trick question for me. I’m a hairstylist, so I work in a salon. Often times I’ll ask one of the girls to help me. For my most recent color job I design it, a friend of mine did the application and then another stylist helped me cut the back and thin the back, but I did the front myself. Usually I dye my hair myself but any time I work with bleach, I make sure to have someone else do it because I can’t have fried hair!
3. Do you wear the same style everyday or do you change it?
I’m not sure if we’ve ventured into clothes or if we are still on hair but I change it up and keep it the same. I don’t want people to get too comfortable with my look but thankfully I can pull off many different styles and trends and it not seem too out of place.
4. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
This kind of thing is relaxing for me, so I like to go to the salon and be pampered but I don’t do it very often. My hands are constantly in water and getting hair color on them. I have a client who is allergic to acrylic, so I no longer wear acrylic nails. Pedicures are done more often in summer because of sandals but for the most part I skip it.
5. How often do you change your nail polish?
When I had acrylics it was every 2-3 weeks. Now that my acrylics are off I have no nails, so no polish.
6. Do you polish your toes in the winder or just the summer?
Usually just the summer unless I get a pedicure.
7. How long does it take for you to put on make up?
Depends on where I am going. For work, I wear a conservative amount. Foundation, shade my eyebrows, sometimes eyeliner, sometimes just mascara and sometimes lipstick and it takes me about 5 minutes. For going out, I do a bit more and that can take up to 20 minutes.
8. What do you do first, face or eyes?
Um, people do their eyes first? That doesn’t even make sense to me. You need to have some kind of base or FOUNDATION otherwise you’re just going to smear and when you sweat your eyeshadow will crease and not to mention if you try to put foundation over eyeshadow and stuff you’re going to mess it up.
9. Do you collect make up or just buy what you need when you need it?
LOL make up collection, definitely. You should see my hair product collection while you’re at it. I’m like a mini-Sephora.
10. How often do you wear false eyelashes?
Special events only. I used to wear them more often but it got to be just too much of a hassle. I only wear individuals or “accents” on the outside. I cannot apply band eyelashes on me to save my life. Anyone else, no sweat but me? NOPE.
11. Do you do a full face of make up everyday?
No way. My skin goes bananas if I don’t stick to the minimum and take it off every day.
12. Do you wear make up when you’re home alone or with family?
Nope. I don’t even wear my contacts until I’m going somewhere. Eyeballs and face need to breathe!
13. Will you leave the house without make up?
Within reason. I mean, if I’m bleeding to death and on my way to the hospital I’m not going to waste precious time doing my make up. If I’m sick I basically feel like I already look like shit so I’m not going to bother. Plus, watery eyes and a runny nose cannot be hidden by make up. Like this weekend, I have total lizard face from blowing my nose. Skin is peeling everywhere, it’s disgusting. Putting make up on it just exaggerates it so I’ve been using tons of moisturizer and just letting it do it’s thing, while exfoliating at night and in the morning.
14. How many high-end products do you have?
I guess that would depend on your idea of high end… some people only wear make up from the drug store so anything bought at Sephora could be considered high end. I don’t bother with names or price. I stick to what works and what I like.
15. Do you plan your outfit of the day every night or decide when you’re getting dressed?
For every day stuff I pick it day of. If I’m going somewhere like Disney or an event I’ll plan it based on weather or the occasion. For trips I clearly plan ahead but I always give myself choices; I like to pack things that I can mix and match so I’m not stuck with wearing the item in one way. I like things that can be versatile for the weather but also look nice together.
16. How often do you change your handbag?
I am an accessory girl, so all the time. I’ve got probably 20-25 handbags, 10-15 wallets and then I’ve got overnight bags, luggage and backpacks galore.
17. What time do you wake up and go to sleep?
I work evenings, so I usually stay up late and sleep in. I work better that way. But if I have a client who wants and early appointment I’ll oblige.
18. How often or when do you workout?
Asthma doesn’t let you work out. I hike more than lift weights. I tried running but after like 3 months I quit because I got sick of my lungs feeling like they were on fire for hours and not seeing any results. I couldn’t even run a whole mile by the end of the 3 months. It sucked. I don’t hike in the summer time because the heat is so bad in California, but typically I hike once a week from Oct to April.
19. Left or right handed?
I’m a righty.
20. How tall are you?
Well, this is usually asked how short are you? I’m 5 foot nothing! Sad thing, I’m not even the shortest one in my family. My niece is 4’10” and I do believe that is the height for legal midget status.
21. Do you speak any foreign langauges?
I speak a tiny bit of spanish. I’m terrible at it. I can read it and translate but actual conversation sucks.
22. How many pets do you have?
I have a zoo. 2 cats, 2 dogs, 2 lizards and a bird. We used to have 3 lizards but one recently passed away.
23. How often are you on Blogger?
It’s my default homepage, so every day.
24. Do you read comments posted on blogs?
Absolutely, it’s where I find a lot of great blogs.
25. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
I don’t keep a list. If I see something I like I will investigate but I don’t think I’ve purchased anything based off a blog post as I read it.
26. How did you come up with your blog name?
Oh, that is explained on the about page!
27. What kind of camera do you use for your photographs?
I use a Nikon d5100. I love it.
28. How often do you clean your house?
Not as often as I should. My room is a mess right now. Seriously. It needs swept, trash taken out and my bed made.
29. What is your favorite color?
Typically it is teal but it’s changed over the years and I like all sorts of colors but if it comes in teal I usually by it. The brighter teal, more on the turquoise side than the darker blue side.
30. Do you swear?
Yes. My Grams hates it. I’ve read articles that argue against it in blogging but sometimes no other word will do.
Those were all the questions given. I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a little better. I guess you can answer these in the comments and/or post a blog and link the blog post here. Either way I’d love to read your responses.
