Just a cool 4.5 hour trip from Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin is not only the live music capital of the US but also the state capitol. Every native Texan has probably been, but I’m an import. So that’s on the agenda. Boyfriend likes a podcast called The Atheist Experience and he wants to go (read: *dying* to go) see the place they record it. I’m sure he wants to also take part in a podcast. There is also a pinball arcade that I’m sure he will be more than delighted to visit, while I’ll just kind of be meh about it. Who am I to deny him his fun? Afterall I’m going to drag him to flea markets like the one they have at Radio Coffee and Flea. As luck would have it, there is a yearly festival of crafts going on in Leander, TX called the Old Town Street Festival. It’s only held once a year on the third weekend of May, which this is. Insert devilish grin.

There are things like going to the Longhorn Caverns, Bat sight-seeing at the Congress Bridge, the museum of weird (which I’ve heard is overpriced and undervalued), the Cathedral of Junk and the not so weird but still on the list, Alamo Drafthouse.

And let’s not forget the most important part of the journey – the food. I’m here for all the taco’s, all the BBQ and most mostest important (yes, mostest because it is that *that* important) Blue Cat Cafe – where you get to pet kitties and eat at the same time. For those of us who can’t have cats because our roommate is “allergic” (those are super sarcastic air quotes) but love kitties anyways, this is a big deal and not the usual. Also, it’s vegan. So my vegetarian and vegan friends will doubly enjoy this.
